Don Juan Rose Petal Jam

A Rose is just a Rose UNTIL:
It becomes Don Juan Jam
picked a basket with about a quart of Don Juan Roses ,trimmed the white tips off closets to the bud and any bad spots
washed them ,I see I missed a few tips lol
Soaked them overnight in water cooked them using this sites recipe http://www.emikodavies.com/blog/rose-petal-jam/
I did add 2 tablespoons Liquid Pectin and you can add a drop of  food coloring to enhance whatever color petals you have
it turned out so YUMMY !
Since I have added several of my marmalades to some of my crock-pot meals I thought  my Rose Petal Jam I had canned  might go well with some meat in the crock-pot.

WOW- O -WOW was it good on a Pork Roast:) No left overs from My Smith Gang!

My son Spent this afternoon 1/24/2012 pruning them back for this years new growth I can't wait for them to start Blooming again, Hoping they do well again this year they are so Beautiful Blooming,Sometimes its hard to pick them for Jam.

Orange Apricot Chipotle Chutney

Such Orange Goodness and Beauty filled these JARS !
With finishing up our Christmas Eve Oranges I still had 8 sitting on the counter and thought I would love to do one more marmalade ,after digging around hunting recipes I found this one:) Such beauty it brought to my jars. Here is the link to this beautful and tasty marmalade jam. http://www.fritolay.com/recipes/recipe/orange-apricot-chipotle-jam

I chopped up the dried apricots found little Sophia could eat these thought huh healthy Gummy bears indeed!
Peeled and ready to cook

Chipotle peppers in adobe sauce now I have to say this is definatley  a new product for me. It sure added a very smokey taste to the jam. Thats why we really decided it would go so much better in the crockpot over a ham and I cant wait !

Yummy

My First Cake Pops

My First Ever Cakepops!:)
Peppermint Pops
I have fallen in love with mrsfoxssweets.blogspot.com Blog so much so that I thought I gotta try a couple of her tutorials on  cake pops. Now this lady is a complete baking and pop artist.  And for me this was a huge challenge lol. Alot of  lessons learned but I will say it was FUN and my boys (ages16,12) came to the kitchen and spent time with me as we laughed and created and BRAINSTORMED many times.

I had made a pound cake and unfortunately it stuck to my pan I have made many, many pound cakes even 10 for a bake sale and never once had one to stick to my pan I was first upset then thought ok so maybe I can just use the cake to make the cakepops so I froze the cake till I was ready to give it a try and TRY I DID! I made my own homemade icing using this recipe Classic Vanilla Buttercream Frosting, added it to the cake mix and rolled the cakepops. http://savorysweetlife.com/2010/03/buttercream-frosting/

 .
Here they are all cute and rolled and ready to pop in freezer and almost ready to be dipped in the Wiltons Peppermint White Chocolate Melts ,this is when the fun began for us cakepop newbies lol, the melts did not melt correctly, we added veggie shortening top help didn't work, I warmed it put in icing bag, too thick, ugh what to do !! Okay so we BRAINSTORMED, and came up with this plan .Use the homemade icing to decorate pops around stick with pink and use a knife to ice the peppermint on, the pink worked the other we ended up heating and molding with our fingers to get the candy peppermint melts to stick on without tearing up our pops and lol the cakepop itself was heavier than our new sticks, we did alot of  holding used  styrofoam to help lol, it got my boys creating, they came out with boxes, screwdrivers to make holes, plans of different kinds of holders finally I saw a picture of a cakepop Bouquet, I grabbed our milkshakeglasses and some pinktissue paper and tadaaahh:but for her great tutorial see her post  http://mrsfoxssweets.blogspot.com/2011/12/peppermint-cake-pops.html
Our PEPPERMINT POPS:)

My Sweet Dear HUBBY ordered me this set to try a different way of making them, also so their may just be more cakepops to come! I was so glad to try and learn a new skill and if you research the new cakepop craze you will definately notice these bakers are true ARTIST:)
May you have a Blessed day and eat some cake or a cakepop:)
This is my first link Party!

A Dowry Crocheted Gift Made From a Moma's Hands

                                                                  To  My Oldest Son
I thought of a day that would be very special for my son, a day to come long before he thinks of it , aday that he may take a Bride.Wondering  What I could offer to his home ,made  from me, I love to Crochet and my children love to see me make things. So I thought I would make my sons wife some items to go in their kitchen. To help him prepare for her.
I just picked a random pattern (I pinned this one on Pinterest for a shareable pattern), http://crochet.about.com/od/freecrochetpatterns/ss/Openwork_Dishcloth_Pattern_8.htm  made it  white just like her wedding dress  ,thinking of every stitch the meals they may make together, the laughter they may share ,a first home to call their own.I  said a Prayer for them as I crocheted  this dishcloth, I caught my  son watching me out of the corner of his eye :)

He so sweetly took the pics to remember his Mothers hands

                                                              Just a simple Dishcloth
made with love to match the beauty my son picks to be his Bride

To Chad, I Love You my Son
